On a recent ride on the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, we discovered what happens when the attraction breaks down. Check out these exciting (and a little unsettling) videos and photos showing what it’s like to be on the Millennium Falcon when it stops working.

Ever wanted to ride the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy? Disney has made our dreams come true with the addition of Galaxy’s Edge at both Disney World and Disneyland. Other than Rise of the Resistance, which remains the hottest ride two years later, Guests can ride on Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.

Ride in the cockpit and face adventure in another galaxy. Your mission depends on you and the others in the cockpit! Three different roles – pilot, engineer, and gunner – must work together to complete the mission successfully.

This attraction may not be the more popular of the two rides in Galaxy’s Edge, but a recent experience turned out to be a little more exciting than usual.

Stuck on the ride

Kenny the Pirate is currently at Disneyland, and last night (January 4) he took a ride on the Millennium Falcon. What was supposed to be a normal ride turned into something a bit different – and unsettling!

By the way, Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run is the same at both Disney World and Disneyland.

During his ride, the attraction temporarily stopped. Now, usually when a ride breaks down, communication will come out on the overhead intercom that the ride is down but will resume shortly. They remind you to stay calm and remain in the vehicle.

However, that did not happen when Kenny was on the ride. There was no communication from Disney Cast Members during the 15 minutes the ride was down. Guests were kept locked in their seats to keep them safe.

It’s always important to stay in the ride vehicle during a temporary pause. You never know when it may restart.

Finally, the overhead message communicated with Guests at the very end when they were allowed to exit.

Kenny shares a video of his experience so you can get a first hand look at what he saw. In the video, you can see that the screen has an odd “dust cloud” appearance instead of the typical ride scenes.

Additionally, the lights in the cabin kept going on and off and the sounds worked intermittently. You can hear a little girl tell her family that the ride was “injured.” Yes, we think it is too!

On a bright note, Kenny and the other people in the same cabin reached Pirate status! So, there’s some silver lining in the otherwise odd experience.

I’ll let the photos and video speak for themselves. You can watch the video below:
