Earlier today, we mentioned that the Epcot Monorail line would be resuming operations this week. Cast Members have been scheduled for shifts this week and we now have the official start date!
Disney World Monorail System
I (Christina) love the Disney World Monorail system. Sure, the monorails may smell like a goat farm in the heat of the summer, but they are the most reliable transportation in Disney. They don’t go down in inclement weather like the skyliner does.
Their only downfall is that there are limited locations that the monorails travel to. I, personally, wish we could extend the monorail system further in Disney! There’s something about riding the monorail that makes everything more magical, am I right?
Epcot Monorail Line
We’ve seen so many promising signs of the Epcot Monorail line coming back! Not long ago, Cast Members were spotted at the Epcot station participating in training sessions.
Today, we announced that Cast Members had received scheduled shifts on the Epcot Monorail line for sometime this week. We now know that the Epcot Monorail will open on Sunday July 18th, 2021!
Disney is saying the monorail will begin operations 1 hour before park opening through 1 hour after park closure.
The Epcot Monorail Line will reopen on Sunday July 18th!
Could the Polynesian Station Open Soon?
In addition to the Epcot line reopening date, there is some reason to be hopeful for the coming reopening of the Polynesian Village Resort monorail station, too!
Disney has said it will no longer be offering bus transportation to Epcot or Magic Kingdom from the following resorts on the below effective dates:
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (July 25)
Disney’s Contemporary Resort (July 25)
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (mid-August)
If Disney plans to end bus services to the Polynesian by mid-August, that means they plan to have the monorail station up and running by then! Here’s hoping that we get an official reopening date for the Polynesian station soon!

I'm crushed! We canceled our Polynesian reservation when Disney emailed us just 2 weeks ago with an operational update that said the monorail station would _not_ be open during our visit in late August! How could they have bungled their communications so badly?
