D23 Announces a NEW Gold Member Collector Set for 2021

What is D23?

If you are wondering “what even IS D23,” you probably aren’t alone. D23 is Disney’s Official Fan Club.

D23 offers a site full of content for Disney fans far in wide and its General Members to bring you updates on all things Disney. But, it offers even more perks for it’s D23 Gold Members.

D23’s Gold Membership

D23’s Gold Membership provides die hard Disney fans with a variety of perks. Among them are a subscription to Disney Twenty-Three magazine, which is a quarterly publication.

More importantly, members get access to D23 in person or virtual event along with the ability to bring one (or sometimes more) guest(s). Members also typically receive discounts to the D23 Expo.

D23 Members also receive a membership card. This card comes in handy because the membership includes exclusive discounts and occasional exclusive access to merchandise.

But, one perk many members enjoy is the D23 Gold Membership Collector Set. This annual set includes a variety of exclusive member gifts.

What’s in the 2021 Collector Set?

The d23 2021 Collector set is here! And, I have to say, it is extremely tempting.

This year’s set includes all kinds of treats. In addition to the certificate and membership card, members receive a newsletter, a lunchbox, a pin set, a pennant, and a record!

The Lunchbox

The vintage style lunchbox really has me considering this membership. It is fantastic, and I love everything about it from the characters to the park icons. (I think my bank account just overheard me typing this and went into hiding.)

The D23 site describes it perfectly. “Taking inspiration from a fabulous 1973 fan favorite, this lunchbox designed by Kevin Kidney and Jody Daily—features Mickey, Donald, Chip and Dale, icons from all four Walt Disney World theme parks, a magical musical band led by Figment himself, and vignettes of scenes from Typhoon Lagoon to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure” (2021).

The Pin Set

I don’t even collect pins, but I really, really like this set. You may have heard of the Fab 5, but this set features “Florida’s Fab Five.”

The group, dubbed as the “Florida Fab Five,’ includes one character from each park as well as The Orange Bird (who is a favorite in my household). Henry the Bear from Country Bear Jamboree represents Magic Kingdom; Figment from Journey into Imagination represents EPCOT; R3-X from Star Tours represents Disney’s Hollywood Studios; and the legendary Yeti from Expedition Everest represents Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The Record

If you love Disney, and you have a passion for Vinyl, and you don’t want to be enabled, you should probably just stop reading now. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

The set includes a Walt Disney World: Then and Now Vinyl Record. It features “Bear Band Serenade” from Country Bear Jamboree on one side, and “Nothing Can Stop Us Now” from Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway on the other—on vinyl for the first time!

Other items

The kit also provides members with a vintage style Fan Club pennant. It is designed by none other than the Official Voice of Mickey Mouse, Bret Iwan.

Members also receive a special newspaper welcoming them to the club. It is designed as a tribute to an original publication, the Walt Disney World News.

Membership Costs

Occasionally D23 offers membership discounts. However, a single Gold Membership is typically $99.99 per year plus shipping and fees.

D23 also offers a Duo Membership for $129.99 plus shipping and fees. However, this duo membership only comes with ONE Collector Set so if you want separate sets, you need 2 separate memberships.
