There are delays with Disney Parks reopenings and theatrical releases, but Disney is planning for a new Super Hero to debut on Disney+. She’s big, bad, and VERY green.

With everyone spending more time at home, Disney+ has really stepped its game up releasing new titles. Disney+ has just announced several new shows and films for May.

They’ve also announced an upcoming Mandalorian documentary, and Prop Culture series. Now, let’s take a look at the most recent show!

Savage She-Hulk Comic

We first met She-Hulk in the “Savage She-Hulk” comic, published in 1980. According to marvel.com, Jennifer Walters was raised in Los Angeles by her father Sheriff Morris Walters and her mother Elaine Banner-Walters.

Her mother died in a mysterious accident. It was during this time that she grew close with her cousin, Bruce Banner, aka The Hulk. She developed a strong sense of justice like her father and became a lawyer.

Jen is first introduced in the “Savage She-Hulk” comic investigating possible suspects on her mom’s murder. In the heat of things, Jennifer gets shot and needs an immediate blood transfusion.

One guess who gives it to her…

Becoming She-Hulk

So, as you probably guessed, her cousin Bruce just happened to be visiting New York City and provides her with a life-saving blood transfusion.

In the second She-Hulk comic, Jen spends her days as a lawyer trying to control her anger and keep from splitting out of her clothes.

Unlike the Hulk, she is able to keep her Jen Walters brain and remembers what happens during her Hulk form. She is similar to Hulk because she gets super strength when she transforms into She-Hulk.

Things get complicated though because her dad is fighting for justice through being a sheriff, and Jennifer is becoming a vigilante.

Avengers Connection

In the comics, She-Hulk joins the Avengers in AVENGERS #221-242 comics by Jim Shooter, David Michelinie, and Bob Hall along with the artists.

She-Hulk is the muscle for the Avengers and provides much needed comic relief. I am excited about the possibility of adding She-Hulk to the Avengers line-up in the future!

Marvel.com describes her as running around in cut-off shorts, lifting up cars and huge machines like they weigh nothing, and then dives into fist fights with fists flying.

She has a flirty, fancy-free personality. I can’t wait to see her personality unfold on the She-Hulk Disney+ series!

Will the Original Hulk Be Included?

Mark Ruffalo, the actor that has brought Bruce Banner and the Hulk to life since The Avengers, has hinted that his role as Hulk isn’t finished.

He was also the first to portray “Professor Hulk” in an on-screen comedy!

In an interview for Variety’s recent cover story, Banner stated, “There’s nothing completely at a place where it’s a done deal.” He also said “There’s some talk of having Banner/Hulk show in (the Disney+ Series) ‘She-Hulk. If we come up with something good, that would be really interesting. Right now that’s about it. That’s all there is on the table.” I sure hope they will include Hulk in the ‘She-Hulk’ series. Would you like to see Hulk?

Shooting Date

Per reddit.com, the expected start date for shooting is July 6th, 2020. Although, given that pre-production has most likely paused, shooting could get pushed back, possibly into 2021.

With most production start dates being pushed back, it’s not surprising that Disney+ is adding series and specials that go behind-the-scenes of some of the favorite original programs.

She-Hulk will be offered along with other Marvel shows including Moon Knight, WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Ms. Marvel and Loki.
