Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Registration Likely to be Delayed

For a stress-free Disney or Universal Studios vacation, let the FREE expert planners at Royal Carriage Vacations take care of every detail including dining reservations, applying discounts, and onboard cruise credit.

With the amount of closures around Disney World, it is most likely we will see a delay in the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Registration. Read on to find out more information.

Disney has closed their doors until further notice due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This has caused many people to miss vacations they have spent months planning.

Disney recently announced that Star Wars Rival Run Weekend was CANCELED. This was set to run on April 16-19, 2020. As much as we all understand the importance of social distancing, this was a hard pill to swallow.

Star Wars Rival Run Weekend Canceled

Last Wednesday, Disneyland Paris announced they were CANCELING their Princess Run. This event was to be held May 8-10, 2020. I feel for all runners, and I can only imagine the disappointment if you were going for the Castle to Chateau Challenge.

BREAKING: Disneyland Paris Princess Run Canceled

The runDisney website states:

“On-sale dates for future runDisney races will be adjusted, and we will have more information to share soon.”

Club runDisney Membership Registration Date and Details Released

The event registration dates have not been updated on the website. The current dates for Early Registration for Annual Passholders, Golden Oak residents, and DVC members is scheduled for this Thursday, April 2, 2020 with open registration on Tuesday, April 7, 2020.

I would anticipate with all of the closures and the statement on the runDisney website, runDisney will be announcing new registration dates. This is just speculation, but with their statement of future event registration dates to be adjusted, it is likely.

We will update readers as soon as information is available, so be sure to check back often.

Runners train for months for these races. People spend hours on training, costume making, and vacation planning for these events. Disney races are like no other.

Some of our writers have recently participated in runDisney events. Check out my experience with the Half Marathon during Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. Donna recently did the Fairy Tale Challenge during Princess Half Marathon Weekend. Read her half marathon experience HERE.

I can understand the frustration people may be feeling with all of these changes. I think Disney has done a great job with helping runners with canceled races. We all sign waivers stating we understand the race could be canceled with no refund.

I am not sure when my next runDisney race will be, but I know that they will provide another great race weekend that I cannot wait to participate in!
