Blizzard Beach has been going through its annual refurbishment this winter, which was scheduled to end on January 13th, 2020. The opening date has now been pushed back. What could the extension indicate is happening over at Blizzard Beach this winter?

This summer at the IAAPA expo, industry titan ProSlide Technologies indicated that they were working on a project for Disney’s Blizzard Beach. My family loves ProSlides, who designed all of Universal’s Volcano Bay and did the new Miss Adventure Falls family raft ride at Typhoon Lagoon.

At the time of the expo and in the time since ProSlides and Disney have both remained mum as to what this project will be. I really wish they’d announce it so we could start getting excited for this spring and summer at our favorite Disney water park!

My 9 year old son is obsessed with water parks so we visit them a lot with our Platinum Plus passes. He weighed in on the rumored ProSlides project with a hope that it will be a bowl-style slide!

If I were them, I’d lean towards some kind of a trap door slide or other thrill ride. After all, they have to be feeling pressure to compete with Aquatica and Volcano Bay, which offer many more attractions than the Disney water parks.

For now it seems that they are doing a full rebuild of the existing Summit Plummet rather than putting in a new attraction at this time.

Blizzard Beach will now reportedly open on January 18, 2020 at which time Typhoon Lagoon will take its turn getting the wintertime refresh.

My family loves both Disney water parks, but we prefer Blizzard Beach for a number of reasons. I like that the theme is so unexpected and so well done.

My son likes to be able to use his tube in the wave pool! Fun fact: Blizzard Beach wave pool is the only one in the USA that allows rafts to be used!

Which is your favorite Disney water park? And what type of slide are you hoping to see added to Blizzard Beach? Let us know in the comments, and let’s keep the conversation going in our Facebook group!
