Character changes coming to Animal Kingdom

Character movements happen, especially around the end of the fiscal year at Walt Disney World.  We’ll be seeing a change that will affect character fans at the end of September.

Tarzan, King of the Jungle, will make his last appearance in Disney’s Animal Kingdom on September 30, 2017.

Taking his place will be another beloved character who has rarely been seen in Walt Disney World.   Timon will make his return as a regular character meet and greet on October 1, 2017.

It’s still a ways off, but I thought it might help those creating fall plans.  I’ll be updating the listings on Character Locator.

What do you think of this upcoming change?

  1. We’ve met different Tarzans/ I’m only 5’6″, but the top of my head is even with the bottom of Tarzan’s chin in the pictures we have from meeting him.Handsome is in the eye of the beholder, but he certainly had plenty of muscle.

  2. Hi Kenny! I think it is great news. I find that the way he was portrayed, Tarzan looked kind of ridiculous anyway. Like the wimpy version of what he should look like (i.e. Big, handsome, muscular).

  3. Sad to see Tarzan go, but I’m thrilled that he’s being replaced with another rare character. I’ve been wanting to see Timon return to the parks for years. Though I think it would make more sense for him to join Rafiki. Super thrilled!
