Walt Disney World to offer Disney Skyliner gondola system for limited transport

It has been rumored for a number of months that Disney World would receive a new gondola transportation system and they even broke ground on several sites, but it was finally confirmed at D23 that we will receive this new “Disney Skyliner” transportation system soon.

Disney – “A brand new transportation system is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort to add even more magic to your future vacation experiences. Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resortsjust announced that the Disney Skyliner will soon give guests a bird’s-eye view of Walt Disney World Resort.

The transportation system will connect Disney’s Art of Animation, Pop Century and Caribbean Beach resorts and other locations with Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot. And many of the gondolas with Disney Skyliner will feature favorite Disney characters.”

This is exciting to me as I really miss the old Skyway in the Magic Kingdom.  This system will offer enclosed cars for safety and will fly high over the resorts and parks.  It should be a great thrill for little ones.

"limited", meaning that it only transports you to a few select places within the disney resort. ...the skyliner goes from epcot international gateway, to their new vacation club resort riviera, to caribbean beach resort, to pop century/art of animation, to hollywood studios. ...it will not take you to animal or magic kingdom or any of the other resorts.

The word I heard when I watched which stood out to me was "limited"...and I wonder what that means...upcharge? certain times of day? Certain sections for certain hotels.....?

I wish they'd put those gondolas back into the parks.

Hi Kenny! The more diverse modes of transportation available the better. Will wheelchairs be able to get on?

This sounds super exciting! Additional modes of transportation are most welcome. Any word when this might be up and running?
