Why Guests are Avoiding Frontierland Today

This is disappointing, but we do not blame Magic Kingdom Guests for avoiding Frontierland. See why we are worried about Frontierland for the next few months.

Magic Kingdom Expansion

There are many changes currently taking place throughout Walt Disney World. At the Magic Kingdom, a large expansion is taking place along the former Rivers of America and beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad for Villains Land.

This makes Frontierland a bit of a mess right now. Earlier, we shared that both Westward Ho and Big Al's would permanently close.

This closure was caused by the current construction walls, which will soon move forward into Frontierland's riverwalk area.

Frontierland houses several shops, a few quick-service dining locations, Country Bear Musical Jamboree, and, of course, two very popular attractions, Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

If one of these larger attractions go down, it is disappointing, but if both Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad are closed at the same time, this affects the entire land.

Currently, both Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad are temporarily unavailable. Unless someone really loves the Country Bears and/or bland Tex-Mex dining, most Guests are left crowding the other lands of the Magic Kingdom today.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure Closing

This is disappointing today, and it raises concerns for Frontierland starting early next month.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure will temporarily close for a routine refurbishment beginning November 2, 2026, and is expected to reopen in December 2026.

Both Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad are closed at Magic Kingdom.

With Tiana's Bayou Adventure remaining closed, this puts added pressure on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad to draw Guests into Frontierland. Since reopening in May 2026, it has not had the steadiest ride history. While we hope for the best, you may want to plan ahead for your future Magic Kingdom visits.
