Disney World Launching New Virtual Queue Next Week

Disney's Hollywood Studios is bringing back a Virtual Queue, but it will function a bit different. Find out what you need to know before your next visit.

A virtual queue was first introduced with Rise of the Resistance and was later used for the opening of Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, TRON Lightcycle/Run, and Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

Over the years, Disney has made several adjustments to the Virtual Queue system. The Virtual Queue remains on the My Disney Experience app to be activated when needed.

As Disney's Hollywood Studios prepares to open a new expansion, the Virtual Queue will be activated once again.

In 2025, Disney World announced that Star Wars Launch Bay would close permanently to make room for "The Magic of Disney Animation" expansion.

"The Magic of Disney Animation" officially opens on September 14, 2026, and Disney shares that for the initial opening, a Virtual Queue will be in place for "Olaf Draws!".

Guests are invited to experience a new Animation Academy experience with Olaf Draws! Since Olaf is not quite an experienced animator just yet, legendary Disney Animation artists will help with pre-recorded demonstrations.

How to join Olaf Draws! Virtual Queue

Typically, Guests can join a virtual queue through the My Disney Experience app. However, this will not be the case for Olaf Draws!

Olaf Draws! will offer a virtual queue when the standby line is too long.

Beginning September 14, 2026, a virtual queue will only be used for Olaf Draws! if the standby line grows too long. When the Olaf Draws! virtual queue is in use, Guests must visit this attraction to join the wait list. They will receive a text message notifying them of their return time.

Currently, "The Magic of Disney Animation" is offering a soft opening. At this time, a virtual queue is not offered for Olaf Draws!.
