While several Walt Disney World Parks have BIG expansion projects, one of the biggest changes will take place at Disney's Animal Kingdom. DinoLand is now officially extinct.

Yesterday, February 1st, was the final day to enjoy the DINOSAUR attraction and to dine at Restaurantosaurus.

The entire DinoLand location was removed from the My Disney Experience app and Park guide maps. This also changed locations and costumes for a few of our favorite Animal Kingdom characters.

Now another change comes to the Wilderness Explorer Program at Disney's Animal Kingdom. In an effort to encourage curiosity and adventure, Disney's Animal Kingdom developed the Wilderness Explorers program.

This is inspired by Pixar's film, Up, and allows Guests both young and the young at heart to visit various locations throughout the park to learn about animals, conservation, plant life, and animal nutrition.

Now that DinoLand is now officially closed both the Fossil Badge and the Dinosaur Badge are no longer available to guests.

Instead of the now missing dino badges, Wilderness Explorers can now earn the Nature Badge that was offered during Cook Kid's Summer last year.

The newest Wilderness Explorers Guidebook now features this new badge. Last summer, Guests simply used a blank page in the guidebook as one was not designated for this badge.

Guests may still continue to use their old Wilderness Explorer guidebooks if they wish. Read our full guide to become a Wilderness Explorer.
