Tragedy Strikes Disney World Twice in One Week

After the tragic death at Disney's Contemporary Resort last week, tragedy also looms at Disney's Fort Wilderness. Our thoughts and prayers surround those involved.

One of the main reasons guests choose to stay at a Walt Disney World resort is the benefit of staying within the "Disney Bubble." The idea behind the "Disney Bubble" is that once you arrive at Walt Disney World, you never have to leave the Disney magic.

While Disney works hard to create a magical environment for guests, things still happen outside of its control.  The month of October has been a hard one for the Disney Parks.

On October 6, 2025, a fatal crash closed roadways towards EPCOT; on October 9, 2025, a guest was found unresponsive and later passed away aboard Disneyland's Haunted Mansion; and just last week, a guest passed away at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

Disney's Fort Wilderness is huge, encompassing 750 acres. This resort offers DVC cabin rentals and campsites for both tents and RVs.

Yesterday morning, October 21, 2025, a 911 call was made at 7:32 am for a "Person Down" at the Cottontail Curl at Disney's Fort Wilderness. This loop offers smaller campsites for either a tent or a pop-up camper.

Medical responders and the Orange County Sheriff's Office arrived on the scene. The guest, in their 60s, was transported to a hospital and was sadly pronounced dead. There are no signs of foul play in this death.

With so many tragic instances in one month, our thoughts and prayers are with all of the friends and families of those affected.

We are thankful for the skilled Cast Members and first responders who diligently work to provide support and care for all guests while they are at the Disney Parks. These tragedies were so unexpected, but the Disney Parks were able to provide care and comfort.
