Something Magical Is Missing At the Magic Kingdom

Something Magical Is Missing At the Magic Kingdom

Without warning, instead of adding magic, Disney removed some of the magic from the Magic Kingdom. Find out what is missing and be prepared for your next trip to the Magic Kingdom.

Walt Disney World is bringing tons of magic this summer! Disney’s Hollywood Studios has two great new shows,  “Disney Villains Unfairly Ever After” and “The Little Mermaid—A Musical Adventure.

“Cool Kid Summer” is well underway and will continue through September 1, 2025. Disney will host a full lineup of limited-time summer activities and great character interactions throughout Walt Disney World.

Finally, “Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away” will delight Magic Kingdom guests as the sun sets starting July 20, 2025.

Missing Attraction

Magic Kingdom has been plagued with lengthy refurbishments, and now an unexpected refurbishment has hit another favorite spot.

My (Donna) children love the “Sword in the Stone” Disney classic. Every trip to the Magic Kingdom includes a visit to the Excalibur, which is located in front of Prince Charming Regal Carousel.

Yesterday, the “Sword in the Stone was roped off and a blue tarp surrounded the stone, but the sword was still visible. Today, the blue tarp remains, but the sword is now missing.

Our best guess is that this is simply a refurbishment and that guests will once again try their strength and luck at this hidden gem. Many times, Walt Disney World will share information in advance for refurbishments, but this time, even we were surprised by this closure.

We hope this will reopen soon. This is such a fun photo spot and experience for knights of all ages. In the meantime, check out our favorite 5 Hidden Treasures of the Magic Kingdom.

UPDATE: Days after the initial posting, the sword has been returned and the tarp removed. Guests can once again enjoy this fun experience.
