The abundance of festival booths and cuisine at Epcot’s Food and Wine Festival is extensive. However, not all dishes are out of this world regarding texture and flavor. I will admit that I am disappointed and dissatisfied after tasting this particular dish. I’m curious if you’ve tried it.

Flavors from Fire is a festival booth that is in World Discovery. It is very close to Test Track and Creations Shop. The booth first made its appearance at the 2017 festival. It offers four items on the menu, two of which are brand new this year.

The Impossible Burger Slider with Wasabi Cream and Spicy Slaw on a Sesame Bun along with the Smoked Corned Beef with house-made potato chips, cheese curds, pickled onions, and beer cheese fondue are back on the menu this year.

New to this year’s booth is the Chimichurri Marinated Steak Taco with crushed avocado, grilled corn salsa, pickled red onions, queso fresco, and cilantro lime cream. Also new is the spiced chocolate tart with BBQ potato chip crust, salted whisky caramel, and smoked sea salt.

What I Ate

On this particular morning at Epcot, I was starving, and the first booth I visited was Coastal Eats. You can read about my stellar review of the food items at this booth.  I then decided to walk across the way to the Flavors from Fire booth. As a Mexican girl who loves some good tacos, I read the words marinated skirt steak and taco and was elated. Those are two of my favorites, and combined, they are even better!

I placed my order with the Cast Member and was surprised that nobody was in line. Upon receiving the item, I liked what I saw with my eyes except for the tortilla. Visually, it looked cold and overcooked.

Upon taking a bite of the taco, I quickly made a scowl facial expression. The tortilla tasted precisely what it looked like. It wasn’t enjoyable! It was cold and even began to crack as I ate.

I placed the rest of the ingredients on one side of the plate. Surprisingly enough, the marinated steak skirt was juicy. Thankfully, it was the only redeeming factor of the dish as I was not a big fan of the sauce either.

Will I Enjoy this Dish Again?

I decided to give the tortilla itself another chance. Nope. Immediately, I had to spit it back out. It’s as if the tortilla was cooked and left on the counter at room temperature. It then got cold and began curling up at the edges. Its taste was heavy cold masa (ground corn). Not delectable at all!

Honestly, I have no idea if the tortillas taste like this every day of the festival or if I happened to have visited them on an off day. All I know is that in the future, I will no longer be ordering this dish again. Or, perhaps I’ll order it without the tortilla! But, I think I’ll just save myself $6.50 and go to another festival booth!

Have you had the same experience with the Chimichurri Marinated Steak Taco?  Please make sure to share this review with a friend who will be visiting Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival this year!
