The nighttime Main Street Electrical Parade has been around for many decades. In fact, it celebrated its 50th Anniversary in June 2022. The parade was originally created by Robert Jani and Ron Miziker who served as project directors. It ran from 1972 to 1996 at Disneyland Park.

The parade features numerous floats with live performers and entertainers which are covered in 600,000 electronically controlled LED lights. Additionally, the parade utilizes a synchronized soundtrack which is triggered by radio controls along key areas on the parade route.

The Main Street Electrical Parade ran at both Disneyland Park and at the Magic Kingdom at Disney World. It even inspired various spin-off versions like the Toyko Disneyland Electrical Parade: DreamLights.

In 2014, Hong Kong Disneyland premiered a successor version, the Paint the Night Parade. An extended version of the parade premiered at Disneyland on May 22, 2015 as part of the park’s 60th anniversary celebration. In 2018, it moved to Disney California Adventure Park.

New Drone Show

And now, it inspires another show! Drone technology is fairly new for Disney Parks around the world, and we are hopeful it will be put to use in more shows and experiences.

The new show is called “Symphony of Colors” and it includes an “electric parade in the sky.” What’s even better is that the show will feature a drone sequence inspired by the Main Street Electrical Parade.

It debuts on January 8, 2024 over at Disneyland Paris.

Now, before you get too disappointed in the fact that Disneyland Paris will be home to Symphony of Colors, we have some promising news for you. Disneyland Paris has great entertainment and are coming off a great 30th anniversary celebration as well.

One of the men in charge of that, David Duffy, is coming to Disney World! He previously served as Vice President of Entertainment at Disneyland Paris, and he will step into that same role for The Walt Disney World Resort.

You can read more about his promotion and what it means for potential Disney World entertainment HERE.

Duffy has been with Disney for over 30 years, and his roles include show director, writer, artistic director, and creative director. He was likely in charge of planning this new show before getting promoted. So, we are hopeful he will bring his great ideas and expertise to Disney World soon!
