Refurbishments are a part of life at Walt Disney World. It’s not uncommon for at least one attraction to be closed at any given time. Restaurants, hotels, and other areas of the property also need freshened up for optimal guest enjoyment.
Refurbishments may take place for various reasons. Whether it be for mechanical issues or cosmetic updates, a refurbishment can take place for many reasons. Based on the nature of the work, the refurbishment may be a few days or several months.
When it comes to hotels it is important to know the difference between a hard and soft good refurbishment. A “hard-goods” refurbishment is replacing anything from furnishings, fixtures, furniture, and appliances. A “soft-goods” refurbishment is all things soft, so items like linens, throw pillows and drapes.

Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort
Disney describes their Hilton Head location as, “Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort is located on the picturesque coast of South Carolina, only 5 hours from Walt Disney World Resort. This elegant, relaxing home-away-from-home—fashioned after a 1940s hunting and fishing lodge—combines local charm and simple pleasures with outdoor fun for the entire family. The resort features multi-roomed villas and many recreational activities, including 12 miles of heavenly beaches.”
Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort is scheduled for a refurbishment this summer. This refurbishment will include the Live Oak Lodge lobby, villa refurbishments, and other areas throughout the resort.
Per Disney, Guests should give themselves additional time for travel with this resorts refurbishment.
The website states that most hotel amenities will remain open, however Guests should give themselves extra travel time to their destination.
Disney’s Vero Beach Resort
Two hours south of Disney World, you will find Disney’s Vero Beach Resort! This Disney Beach Resort is a place you can relax on the sand and where you can find comfort of home with the beach almost at your doorstep.
Refurbishment will take place October 2023 through January 2024.
This fall (October 2023), Disney’s Vero Beach Resort will begin. It is expected to conclude January 2024. Guests can expect to see new bedding and draperies, reupholstered seating, and new over-the-sofa walls beds!
It is important for Guests to know that they will not be placed in or next to rooms that are being refurbished.
