We have a name and opening timeframe!
Splash Mountain retheme
Back in June of 2020, Disney announced that a major reimagining of Splash Mountain would happen. This attraction, based on the controversial 1946 film “Song Of the South,” has been a fan favorite since it debuted in 1989.
The attraction will begin where the film leaves off; with the final kiss. We’ll join Princess Tiana and her trumpet playing alligator friend Louis “on a musical adventure.”
Disney recently shared that this process will take some time, but they are making great progress on music, characters, and stories. You can read that interview HERE.
They also shared some artwork for the attraction! In the concept art, you can see Tiana, Naveen, and Louis in their boats traveling along the bayou. It definitely looks like this will be an easy transition with what is currently Splash Mountain with the various scenes and drops.
All we know so far is that Disney plans to open the attraction in 2024, but Disney just shared some new information!
Essenece Festival
Last month, Disney shared that they would share more information about the retheme of Splash Mountain into a Princess and the Frog attraction.
“While timing has not been determined, we look forward to sharing more details during Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans in July.”
Disney is listed as an official sponsor of the festival, and it runs from June 30 to July 3.
New Information
During the festival, Disney just announced the attraction will be named “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” and will open in late 2024.
We still do not have a closing date for Disney World or Disneyland.
“Tiana’s Bayou Adventure” will open in late 2024.

Absolutely correct CRT! The guests are not offended with this ride – its Disney Corp! Its obvious they just want to show they are Woke and changing the park to match this new way of life. Meanwhile we all visit WDW to forget the woes of the world – and find our “laugh-in place.”
Jeff – Well said. Princess Tiana doesn’t fit the Splash “Mountain” theme, and if the current Splash Mountain offends you, perhaps you need a little history lesson. Most go on the ride just to see the cute Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Rabbit, and Br’er Fox characters, not to mention the big splash and the Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah ending. Leave this alone!
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls,
I have nothing against a ride themed for Princess Tiana but like most feel adding a ride would be great. Make it a “splash” ride even. Leave current Splash Mountain alone and give it the much needed maintenance it deserves. Who is the current theme offending? It is one of the hardest rides to get on all the time.
I agree with everyone else. Leave splash mountain alone. The movie song of the south was a big part of my childhood growing up. My parents even have a book of uncle Remus adventures. What is a disney park without brer bear, brer fox, and brer rabbit. If u want to do something with princess Tiana make a ride for her. That’s why u have imagineers. Don’t change the magic of one ride to accommodate another. I hope u will take time and listen to all the peoples concerns.
SO TIRED OF ALL DISNEYS RE DO CRAP////THEY HAVE PLENTY OF LAND EX MADE ROOM FOR TRON RIGHT DON’T TAKE AWAY FAVORITES ADD MORE THEY ADDEDBEAUTY AND BEAST COULD ADD NEW RIDE FOR TIANA SO TIRED OF ALL THIS CRAP ILL NEVER EVER DO SPLASH MOUNTAIN OH TIANAS RIDE
Disney is ruining its “theme” parks by just sticking rides in places where they have no purpose. Disney is wasting it’s money on this one. It will not bring additional revenue or guests into the parks. The vast majority of Disney fans would prefer to leave Splash Mountain as it is and add a new attraction for Princess and the Frog.
Disney imagineers have ruined Hollywood Studios (MGM) putting rides and lands with no connection. Their biggest mistake was eliminating The Great Movie Ride and replacing it with Mickey and Minnie Runaway Railroad. As many have said – how great it would be if they added an additional ride to the park without eliminating their theme ride. This is what will happen with taking away splash mountain! The theme of Splash Mountain – “laughing place” will now be a “sad place” for many guests. Adding a ride to Fantasyland “The Princess and the Frog” would have been a welcome exciting event for everyone. So glad I will not be visiting WDW to see the end of Splash Mountain.
