Refurbishment work is planned at a Deluxe Disney Resort. Check out the details on how this may affect your club level stay.

Club Level

Club Level rooms are offered at Disney World deluxe resorts and even at one moderate level resort. Club Level services are an exclusive part of the resort that offer perks for guests staying in these rooms.

While the Club Level rooms come with an extra price, many guests feel this is worth it. Guests have access to concierge staff that is able to assist with the vacation experience. There is a dedicated check-in desk or line for Club Level, and guests have access to an exclusive Club Level Lounge at their resort.

Club Level Lounges offer a variety of complimentary daily refreshments like continental breakfast, hot samples from resort restaurants, evening wine and beer selections, and desserts and cordials. Guests enjoy the ability to grab breakfast from the lounge to start their day or unwind after a long day.

After the closure of Walt Disney World due to the Covid-19 pandemic, club level services slowly returned in phases over the course of the last 2 years.

Contemporary Resort

Disney’s Contemporary Resort is unique in that there are actually two different sets of club level floors. In the main A-frame tower at the resort club level rooms can be found on the 12th and 14th floors. The 12th floor is the “Atrium Club Concierge,” and floor 14 has the “Tower Club Concierge.”

In terms of amenities, the two floors are the same. Guests have access to concierge services, amenities, and lounges. The difference is that floor 14 has both standard rooms and suites. The lounges provide great views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

Upcoming Closure

Refurbishment work will affect guests with upcoming stays in June. According to emails that guests are receiving, the Tower Lounge will be closed June 27th-28th, and the Atrium Lounge will be closed June 29th-30th. As I mentioned above, the lounge with access to food most of the is a big reason guests decide to pull the trigger on a more expensive stay.

Guests with stays booked on these floors during the closure can head to the California Grill at the top of the Contemporary for the daily food selections, however everything that is usually provided at the lounge might not be available at the California Grill.

Details in the email are a bit sketchy in terms of the variety of food and beverage choices. Because of this, some guests are reporting that they are receiving a partial credit for the days that the lounge on their floor will be closed. That leads me to believe that it will not be a full list of choices that guests are accustomed to in the Club Level Lounge.

If you have a stay booked during these timeframes be sure to contact Disney or your travel agent to inquire about the possible credit and any additional details you may need concerning the refurbishment.

A popular question asked is “why don’t the Atrium Lounge guests just use the Tower Lounge when their lounge is closed?” The likely reason is that Disney does not want long lines in the lounges. Having two floors of guests using the lounge would likely be too much to handle.

We were impacted by this closure during our 4 night stay. 2 of our 3 full days would see the club closed. We cancelled our reservation without penalty over this poor treatment and lack of sufficient notice.

We were told the following by a Disney escalation team member: Breakfast was in the California Grill, lunch was to be served in the hallway (gross!) & no dinner was to be served and a credit provided. They couldn't confirm whether we would have access to water(!) or other beverages while the club was closed.

We were also told we had to either accept these changes with zero alternatives or we could cancel.

After paying a small fortune for club level service, we decided to move our business to a non-Disney owned property. We had to repurchase our tickets and lost out on the Genie service we had grandfathered in before the change.

First trip to Disney in years and definitely the last. The service has gone significantly downhill.
