Virtual queue process for Guardians of the Galaxy
The free way to ride Cosmic Rewind is using the virtual queue. Virtual queues have come a long way since the early days of Rise of the Resistance, but they can still be tricky to manage.
To join the virtual queue, guests must go to My Disney Experience at exactly 7:00am or 1:00pm to try to grab a boarding group. Guests staying at deluxe Disney resorts get an extra boarding group on select dates. Check out details on this HERE.

Return time process
Depending on the boarding group you get, you may be called back pretty early in the day or you may have to wait several hours. However, if you are lucky enough to get an early boarding group (like groups 1-20) you may be called BEFORE the park even opens!
We notice that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is actually opening earlier than the posted operating hours. Today, June 5, Epcot opens at 8:00 am with early entry beginning at 7:30. According to the Disney World website, the attraction is not supposed to operate during early theme park entry.
So, what does this mean exactly? The first group was called at 7:45 this morning and asked to return before 8:45 am. If the ride began operating at official park open, the first groups would have a return time of 8:00-9:00.
If you get one of these early boarding groups, note that you should try to get to Epcot as soon as you can. If you are staying offsite you will not be able to enter the park before the posted opening.
Cast Members may or may not be lenient if you arrive after your return time is over. Additionally, this may not be the case every day. You may get an early boarding group but still be called at park opening or shortly after.
