runDisney named this race weekend appropriately. Last night, runners were in for another surprise. Read on for the details.
Springtime Surprise
Springtime Surprise is runDisney’s newest race. It is bringing back some of our favorite themes! I (Heather) love that the Tower of Terror 10-Miler is back, however, I wish this was still a night race.
This weekend is set to take place March 31, 2022- April 3, 2022. This will be the last in-person race of the 2021-2022 season. The event’s theme will change each year. So for the inaugural event, we will see some of our favorite races returning!

Earlier this week, runDisney shared that the medals may not get here in time! Luckily, they made it just in time. No April Fool’s jokes here!
Weekend Weather
Storms are moving through the Walt Disney World Resort. Check out the weather forecast HERE. runDisney put out a statement for runners.

WEATHER UPDATE:
We are actively monitoring the weather forecast for this evening’s Expedition Everest 5K event, as the forecast is calling for the potential of severe weather in the race event area. Please note that the race will proceed in the event of rain, as long as there is no lightning present. We encourage event participants to stay alert, be patient and check back for updates.
As frustrating as it can be if events are changed or delayed, it is truly for your safety. Luckily, the race went off on-time. However, there were some changes.
Expedition Everest Changes
Due to the weather the scavenger hunt of the Expedition Everest 5K is POSTPONED! On the Event Update page runDisney informs participants that the scavenger hunt is postponed. Participants will receive instructions and a new code for the scavenger hunt.
Please note, the hunt portion of the race has been postponed. You will get instructions on how to access the race clues via a new game code tomorrow. Thank you for your understanding and enjoy the race.

Runners are also reporting that the course was cut short by about a half mile! Hope everyone still had a great race and stayed safe!
