If you are heading to Disney World soon, you will notice that Orlando Airport is changing the physical distancing markers in accordance with recent Orange County guidelines. Do you prefer six feet or are you ok with the new changes?

Physical Distancing

I remember even before masks, people were encouraged to stay spread apart from others in an effort to reduce the spread of the virus. The standard for the past year has been six feet.

However, a recent study suggests that the current social distancing requirement that is in place could be reduced from six feet to three feet. You can read more about this study HERE.

As a result, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings recently announced in a press conference that Orange County has moved to Tier One. In Tier One, social distancing is reduced from six feet down to three feet. This applies to both indoor and outdoor locations.

In Tier Two, when 50% of people ages 16+ are vaccinated, masks are not necessary when outside. Once 70% of people ages 16+ are vaccinated, all restrictions may be lifted.

Orlando Airport Changes

Orlando Airport is continuously busy as so many visitors come to Central Florida. There is never a slow time at the airport, and you can agree with me if you have ever been there! In fact, just a few weeks ago, Spring Break crowds were trying to get on the Magical Express motor coaches, and the line to get on was very long.

In response to the Tier One status, the Orlando Airport has reduced physical distancing guidelines to three feet.

The customer service representative I spoke with said the phsyical distancing markers have been removed. The airport will likely put new markings down to reflect the new guidelines, but those sorts of things take time.

She also said the Magical Express area is not part of the Orlando Airport jurisdiction so any changes there will come from Disney World. As a reminder, this change only affects Orlando Airport. We still do not have any announcements from Disney about when/if physical distancing will be changed.

What do you think of these changes? Do you hope Disney reduces physical distancing down to three feet? Let us know!

Not sure what you mean by “if” Disney changes distancing. Of course at some point they will! They want wall to wall people spending dollars again.
