Which Amenities and Experiences will NOT be Available when Disney World Reopens?

For a stress-free Disney or Universal Studios vacation, let the FREE expert planners at Royal Carriage Vacations take care of every detail including dining reservations, applying discounts, and onboard cruise credit.

The updates from Disney World keep rolling in. This time we are looking at which amenities and experiences will not be available for Guests when Disney World reopens.

One of the great things about Disney World vacations is there are so many magical extras. There is so much more to the experience than just visiting the four theme parks. From Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique to the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage, you could plan an entire vacation around these special experiences!

However, we know the park experience will be drastically different when Disney World reopens. From the FastPass+ system being suspended to only one restaurant offering a character meal and so much more, Guests who visit in the initial phase will not be returning to the Disney World we all remember.

The following amenities and experiences will not be available during the initial reopening period:

What is closed?

  • Arcades
  • Campfires
  • Character experiences
  • Dog parks
  • Electrical Water Pageant
  • Marina rentals
  • Pin trading
  • Playgrounds
  • Spas, salons and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Additionally, the following special offerings and childcare services will not be available during the initial reopening:

  • Fireworks voyages and tasting cruises, including the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage
  • Fun runs
  • Wonderland Tea Party at Park Fare
  • Hula lessons
  • In-room childcare services
  • Mermaid school
  • Special classes and programs—including culinary, cultural and animal programs

Talk about a major blow. For my canceled April trip and then my rescheduled September trip, I had Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Pirates and Pals, a fun run, the Wonderland Tea Party, and Captain Hook’s Pirate Crew all planned but now none of those will be taking place.

What you CAN expect to be open at Walt Disney World Resorts

  • Pools
  • Poolside Activities
  • Movies Under the Stars
  • Fitness Center
  • Community Hall
  • Sports Courts
  • Fishing Excursions
  • Bike barns
  • Horse trail rides
  • Pool cabana rentals
  • Golf

This is definitely a lot to take in, and we totally understand your frustrations. When Disney World does reopen, it will truly be a limited experience. Share your thoughts with us on Facebook. What did you have planned for your trip that’s now canceled?

I went to Disney for the first time in 1976. There were no character meet and greets, very little special dining, no fast pass system, no Bibbi Bobbity Botique, basically you rode the attractions and maybe ran into a character or two. There were almost no dining experiences and the quick service places were not good. I believe my September trip will be a lot like my 1971 trip except for masks, distancing, no parades, and no fireworks and the quick service food is much better now.

Pin trading is out. This is very disappointing to my family.

No one knows, probably not even Disney.

Any word on Savi's Workshop? I know it's a small space but also only up to 2 family members at once. I hope if that experience isn't available that they'll sell the lightsaber pieces for guests to assemble on their own at home.
