Have you ever seen large crowds of guests sporting 50’s style clothing and accessories at the Parks? If so, then you’ve experienced Dapper Days!
What Exactly are Dapper Days?
Per dapperday.com, “Dapper Days were started in 2011 to celebrate fun, refined style from yesterday and today.”
Dapper Days began as a way to pay tribute to the way people dressed up to Disney back in the day. Ladies could be seen in dresses, pearls, and fancy pocketbooks!
If you’ve been to the Magic Kingdom or Disneyland, you’ve probably experienced the colorful singing and outfits of this charming barbershop quartet. If you’re trying to figure out what it means to dress for Dapper Days, start here.
Per dapperday.com, “Dress to impress while visiting Disney parks with thousands of other elegant guests.”
Fun Way to Express Yourself At Disney!
With Disney continuing to cutback entertainment, guests need to find creative ways to be add amusement to their visits. One way to do that is to participate in Dapper Days!
What Do I Wear?
Dapperday.com states, ” This isn’t a cosplay or costume event, but rather a way to see your personal style. We are not trying to create a specific period. Just as people once dressed in their best when visiting Disneyland, we’re continuing that tradition of stepping out in style with a fun contemporary flair.”
It’s not just for women! Men and boys dress up also. You’ll see guys in suits and ties, hats, etc. If you’re wanting to participate without roasting in a suit, a button down shirt with a bow tie is a more practical look. (Going to try and talk my husband into this!)
Women and girls wear vintage style dresses, some with petticoats. Think Audrey Hepburn – Amazon and Etsy offer several options. Also, thrift shops are a terrific place to shop for vintage clothing.
Choose accessories, like cats eye glasses, scarves, vintage style purses, parasols, etc. The choices are endless!
You’ve Got My Attention. When Are Dapper Days?
Although not an official Disney event, Dapper Day gatherings occur at various parks. The following 2019 outings are listed on dapperday.com:
- Disneyland Paris:
- September 28
- Disneyland:
- November 2 (Dapper Day EXPO)
- November 3 (Both parks)
- Disney World:
- November 16 (Hollywood Studios)
- November 17 (EPCOT)
There’s even a Dapper discount group code!
I stumbled upon Dapper Days while planning park days for my upcoming trip, and our Hollywood Studios Day is November 16. So, now I’m thinking, although I won’t go through any official “channels”, I gotta’ dress up!! How cool will it be to blend in with the Hollywood Starlet characters?
Have you ever seen groups of Dappers in the parks or dressed up yourself? If so, what are your thoughts? Would you consider dressing up for a future trip?
