Wishes fireworks show to be replaced with a new show
Wishes fireworks at the Magic Kingdom has been playing consistently since October 2003. It will soon be replaced with an all new show.
May 11, 2017 will be the final performance for the beloved fireworks show "Wishes." It will be replaced with a new nighttime spectacular that will be known as "Happily Ever After." The new show will combine fireworks, projection mapping and lasers to create an all-new experience in the Magic Kingdom.
Happily Ever After will debut on May 12, 2017.
Disney - The spectacular will inspire guests to seek out and find their own "Happily Ever After" by showcasing some of the greatest adventures Disney characters have taken to achieve their dreams. The show will feature the latest fireworks and pyrotechnics and original animation, plus a heart-tugging original score. And thanks to the inclusion of state-of-the-art projection mapping technology, more Disney characters than ever before will be featured in the show, including moments from "Moana," "Brave," "Big Hero 6," "Zootopia," "The Princess & The Frog," "Aladdin" and many others.
The Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace will continue to offer up a scrumptious way to view the nighttime fun as "Happily Ever After" makes its debut.

Kenny ,
Any idea why Once upon a time castle show is not being performed on the dates between 3/5 to 3/7 . It seems that other weeks it is every day . Any chance this will change ? Thanks
They are very slow about updating that schedule.
Thank you for the heads up. We just scheduled a quick weekend trip in March to see Wishes one last time!
sounds like the castle will be fabulously transformed multiple times. Will one be able to enjoy the transformations from the pirates and pals fireworks cruise or is it better to view the fireworks in the park?
You'll see the fireworks and hear the music only.
Kenny said it will start on the 12th of May in his article, the day after Wishes finishes.
I enjoyed Wishes the first couple of times, but we have skipped it for the past few years. We see Tink fly in, then hit Tomorrowland. Can't wait for a new show!
Should the new show be ready by June?
Gosh, I would give anything & be happy to see any fireworks show at WDW, but it's a long way from Australia, and my trip in 2 years time has been postponed to 3 years time, as we need more time to save. I'm sure the new show will be amazing.
Very excited. We saw the StarWars extravaganza this past week in HS, so I am looking forward to a similar show projected onto the castle. We may pop over to MK from our Universal visit next year.
I proposed to my fiancé last year during wishes. We were looking forward to watching again this year in September. Sigh. Nothing to do now but be optimistic about the replacement.
This can only be a good thing. It's getting updated. Yes I loved Wishes but you've got to update shows. How much notice would you like Disney to give you? People book holidays over a year in advance and I don't think it's possible for Disney to have the smaller changes announced that early. Rides are continually refurbished and new rides brought in. They need to stay with the times especially with the universal rumours of a night time Harry potter firework and projection display...I said rumours. Thanks for keeping us updated Kenny
This makes me sad. Wishes is always the highlight of a WDW visit for me.
I knew this day would come eventually, but man, I love Wishes. I have so many special memories of watching it with my husband. I can only hope that the new show will earn as special a place in my heart.
I just said the exact same thing to my husband, a little notice would've been nice.
May 11 is a lot of notice from Disney. Things often dissappear with no notice here. They never told anyone that Stich would close.
I'm devastated!!!
Very disappointing. It will be missed. Maybe they could have kept it and spent $$ on an evening parade. Or updating rides that are in disrepair?
Didn't even announce it to give people a chance to see it one last time.
It is announced. I mentioned the dates in the post.
I'm so sad about this.
