Dreaded "B Mode" Added to Disney World's Newest Attraction
Walt Disney World's newest attraction just unlocked a new "B Mode," and we are not sure how we feel about this.
Disney's Dreaded "B Mode"
Many of the newer attractions have so many moving parts that all lead to the overall experience of the attraction. When one of these parts malfunctions a backup plan is in place, known as the "B Mode."
We see this fairly often over at Disney's Animal Kingdom aboard the Na'vi River Journey. The large Shaman animatronic at times is unoperational and a one-dimensional version is in place.
Rise of the Resistance has many different "B Modes," but most notably, there is an alternate scene that replaces Kylo Ren at the end of the attraction. While these simpler versions are not ideal, they do allow the attraction to still be enjoyed by guests.
New Experience: "Olaf Draws!"
In 2025, Disney World announced that Star Wars Launch Bay would close permanently to make room for "The Magic of Disney Animation" expansion.
"The Magic of Disney Animation" officially opens on September 14, 2026, and Disney shares that for the initial opening, a Virtual Queue will be in place for "Olaf Draws!".
Guests are invited to experience a new Animation Academy experience with Olaf Draws! Since Olaf is not quite an experienced animator just yet, legendary Disney Animation artists will help with pre-recorded demonstrations.
"Olaf Draws!" B Mode
Previously, Guests reported being evacuated from "Olaf Draws" when the Olaf animatronic malfunctioned. This had many concerned about whether this would be a recurring problem.
A new "B Mode" has now been introduced at "Olaf Draws". The curtains remained lowered, and a Disney animator started the class, explaining that Olaf was off looking for Samantha, but that she would be leading the animator class.
New "B Mode" is now added for "Olaf Draws!" at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
While this is not quite the same experience as with Olaf, we are happy to see that Guests can still enjoy the animating experience even if Olaf is not available. Thanks to @myrandasadventures for sharing:
