From time to time, Disney has scheduled refurbishments for anything from rides and restaurants to hotels. We all want to be able to enjoy the nice new things, and refurbishments have to happen for this to occur.

Even though we all may not like seeing or hearing construction, it is a necessary part of keeping things safe and up to date.

Refurbishments can occur on things such as attractions, hotels, restaurants, walkways, pools, and buildings. Disney does their best to notify Guests ahead of time of these refurbishments, especially if they could impact the Guest experience.

There are BIG changes coming to Magic Kingdom with the new Villains Land and the new Cars-themed Piston Peak National Park.

Due to this expansion, the route for the Walt Disney World Railroad is also altered to show that it is now simply a shuttle between Main Street Station and Fantasyland Station only.

Beginning September 28, 2026, the Walt Disney World Railroad will temporarily close for a routine refurbishment. It is expected to reopen in November 2026.

During this closure, the Main Street Train Station will remain open for parade and fireworks viewing. The Storybook Circus Station will remain open for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party activities.
