Many Disney Guests love to visit the many Walt Disney World Resorts to enjoy the many Resort amenities, decorations, and free resort activities.

On June 28, 2026, Disney closed a loophole that allowed Guests free transportation to any Walt Disney World Resort on property.

Guests boarding Disney Resort buses and the Sassagoula River Cruise from Disney Springs must show either a Resort room reservation, a dining reservation, or a recreation activity reservation. You can read more about this new restriction HERE.

A big pool rule specific to Walt Disney World is that you cannot pool hop. This means you cannot swim at a pool that you are not staying at.

For most of the pools, this is not a big deal. However, for bigger feature pools like Stormalong Bay, this can become a problem because of its popularity.

It appears Disney is testing this wristband feature at Disney's Port Orleans-French Quarter Doubloon Lagoon Pool. Read more about this new restriction HERE.

Disney Resort Holiday Displays

This week, Walt Disney World released all the halfway-to-Christmas news. News included that popular Walt Disney World Resort decorations would return, but with tighter restrictions.

Disney shares, "For guests staying at the resorts or for those with valid dining reservations, the Disney Resorts Collection offers a wide array of bright and merry holiday decor." It is a subtle confirmation that Guests must have either a Resort room confirmation or Resort dining reservations to visit Disney Resorts this holiday season.

At this time, there is still a BIG loophole for Guests exiting the Walt Disney World Theme Parks. Guests can board any Resort bus to enjoy free transportation. It will be interesting to see if Disney adds restrictions at each Theme Park in the future.

  1. Wow! I can't believe they're taking away simple resort hopping from resort guests! It specifically states that one must have a resort reservation or dining reservation for that specific resort. As an out of state AP & typical single rider, they're making it extremely difficult for me to be able to enjoy the entire resort!

  2. Ridiculous!
We resort hopped to check out the resort to see where we wanted to stay next!
It's the reason we've stayed at 13 different resorts.

  3. The solution I've seen offered is to book a dining reservation and go order a cocktail or dessert. Most restaurants do not have a minimum spend threshold or a price fix menu.

  4. It's my understanding that this is the same wording that Disney used last year, and that resort hopping restrictions have not been changed for passholders and guests who have paid for parking at the theme parks. Many of the resorts are within walking distance to a theme park or the TTC. Disney makes a lot of money off of people who visit the bars, shops, and quick service restaurants at the resorts.

  5. Another nail in the coffin of Disney as our annual vacation of choice. Resort hopping was always fun for us. That's OK, though, there are other places and it's not like Disney will miss our money. Extra glad we decided against the vacation club.
