One large perk for Walt Disney World Guests is the use of free transportation. Due to the massive size of the Walt Disney World Resort, this is a much-needed perk for Guests.

If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, you can take Disney Transportation to Disney Springs. Some Resorts offer bus transportation or water taxi transportation.

For quite a while, many non-Walt Disney World Resort Guests used a loophole to enjoy free Disney parking.

Recently, a Guest received confirmation from planDisney that beginning June 28, 2026, Guests boarding Disney Resort buses and the Sassagoula River Cruise from Disney Springs must show either a Resort room reservation, a dining reservation, or a recreation activity reservation.

This brought up many questions from Guests. One of the most frequently asked questions is whether this restricts resort hopping. Thankfully, the answer is no.

If you are a Walt Disney World Resort Guest, you may board a bus or watercraft and head towards any Walt Disney World Resort regardless of which resort you are staying at.

At this time, this restriction is in place only at Disney Springs. Guests not staying at a Walt Disney World Resort can still enjoy free transportation from all Theme Parks to each Disney Resort.

Another frequent question is when non-Disney Resort guests can enjoy free Disney transportation.

For non-Disney Resort Guests with a dining reservation or recreation activity reservation, you can enjoy free transportation 2 hours before your reservation.

Finally, a third question is whether Walt Disney World Annual Passholders can enjoy free transportation from Disney Springs to a Walt Disney World Resort. The same rules apply to Annual Passholders. If you do not have a Walt Disney World Resort reservation, you will not be able to board a bus or watercraft leaving Disney Springs.

  1. What about passholders? We don’t pay for park parking with an active pass. Are we included to use the buses if we desire?

    1. That is a great question! Unfortunately, Annual Passholders without a Walt Disney World Resort reservation will be unable to board a bus or watercraft at Disney Springs unless they have a dining or recreation reservation at a Walt Disney World Resort. I will add this information to the original post. Thank you for reading.
