Two of Universal's BEST Restaurants are Closing Forever
This is actually shocking and sad news for theme park foodies. Universal is closing two of its best restaurants.
The End of an Era

Universal Orlando Resort has plenty of standard theme park fare. However, it also has a few absolute gems in terms of dining.
One of them is an award winner, earning national recognition over and over again. It might be the most decorated restaurant to exist in an American theme park.
Unfortunately, the curtains are falling on two of the best dining options the original Universal parks have to offer. Progress is good, but this is actually sad for many theme park fans.
Mythos is Permanently Closing

Mythos, Universal Islands of Adventure's full-service masterpiece, is closing permanently. This gem is one of the last remaining remnants of the Lost Continent. It has been there since opening day. If you don't know Mythos, you can read about it HERE.
The Lost Continent area is being reimagined, and its main attraction, Poseidon's Fury, is already being demolished. We had hoped that Mythos would somehow be incorporated into whatever is on the way. Sadly, Universal has confirmed that Mythos is not going to survive this change, despite its popularity.
If you want to say farewell to Mythos, you still have time. It will not close permanently until sometime in 2027.
Thunder Falls Terrace is Permanently Closing

Not only is Universal closing the best full-service restaurant in Islands of Adventure, but it is also closing what is arguably the best quick-service option. Thunder Falls Terrace in the Jurassic Park area is also closing forever.
Mythos and Thunder Falls Terrace are Permanently Closing in Universal Islands of Adventure.
Thunder Falls Terrace will be completely reimagined and will reopen as Universal's new full-service offering, filling the dining void that Mythos is leaving behind. The question is, what will replace the quick-service dining gap that Thunder Falls Terrace will leave behind? After all, quick-service dining is already one of the things Islands of Adventure could most stand to improve.

The new dining experience is expected to open in 2027. Thunder Falls Terrace is closing very soon. It will shut its doors this summer so that the new Mythos replacement will be ready to take over in 2027 as the flagship dining experience for Islands of Adventure.
Hopefully, whatever replaces Mythos will live up to it. In the meantime, it looks like Atlantic will assuredly take over as the best full-service experience in a Universal Theme Park.
Are you sad to see Thunderfalls Terrace and Mythos go? Let us know in the comments. And be sure to share the news with people you know who are planning to visit Universal so they can plan accordingly.
