Miles, Magic, and Memories As These runDisney Races Are Now On Hiatus

Today was the last day of this runDisney race weekend for the foreseeable future. Athletes had lots of emotions crossing that final finish line this morning.

Last April, runDisney shared some very disappointing news for the runDisney community. It was announced that runDisney races in Disneyland would be going on hiatus in 2026. The official statement on the runDisney website reads:

"Due to upcoming construction impacts, runDisney races at the Disneyland Resort will be placed on hiatus in 2026 after the conclusion of the 2026 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend presented by HONDA. We will continue to offer races at Walt Disney World Resort, as well as virtual offerings."

Today, at the Disneyland Half Marathon athletes crossed the last runDisney Disneyland finish line for the foreseeable future.

All The Emotions

From the announcers and race staff to the athletes participating in the event, emotions were heavy. Today, marks the final runDisney race at Disneyland as the races are now on hiatus indefinitely.

Today, runners were left with sadness but hope too. Sadness that this chapter is done for an unknown amount of time. But hope remains that these races will return in the future.

What Now?

runDisney races are so much more than running events. They are a community of Disney athletes becoming friends in corrals, dressing up in costumes, cheering on strangers, and running through magical places.

runDisney events will still take place at Disney World and through Virtual Events.

Today, we take in all the feelings, the good and the bad, but mostly the joy that runDisney Disneyland races brought athletes from all walks of life together to achieve huge accomplishments. These resilient athletes will lace up and chase new finish lines until the magic of Disneyland races return. For now, we will keep on training while will await their return.
