Disney Notifies Guests at the Contemporary Resort

Disney's Contemporary Resort

Disney's Contemporary Resort opened on October 1, 1971 making it one of two Disney World opening day resorts (the other being the Polynesian).
It falls into the deluxe resort category and sits right outside Magic Kingdom! You cannot miss it due to its A-frame shape, which was very contemporary in the 1970s.
Disney announced a fairly big refurbishment for both Disney's Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower.
Big Refurbishment at Contemporary Resort

Originally, Disney's Contemporary refurbishment started in September 2024. This first announcement came with an end date of Summer 2025. This was already almost a year long.
This past June, Disney made an extension to this refurbishment. At that time, the refurbishment was extended until July 2026.
Now this refurbishment has been extended once again.
Warning for Disney's Contemporary Resort

Disney warns guests that Disney's Contemporary Resort will now extend through late 2027. This will be an almost 3-year refurbishment.

Disney shares, "Refurbishments will occur in phases throughout select areas of Disney's Contemporary Resort, including the atrium and Bay Lake Tower. Guests may also see and hear construction during their stay."
This is definitely something to consider before booking a stay at Disney's Contemporary Resort and Bay Lake Tower.

due to the construction will they be lowering the price of the rooms for the inconvenience?
That would be nice, but unlikely.
That sounds to me they found something that requires more time to repair or rebuild, like structural issues to comply with State codes and wil need a major overhaul…
With such an extended timeline, I agree that it sounds like a bigger project than they first planned for.
