Live Action “How to Train Your Dragon”
The animated How to Train Your Dragon films were adapted from the book series by the same title. Now, DreamWorks has released a live-action version of the beloved movie. It hit theaters on June 13, 2025.
Live-action remakes of animated favorites tend to be hit or miss with fans, especially when nostalgia is involved. In fact, these remakes draw plenty of concerns and criticism.

Digital Release
The digital release of the live action film became available to rent or buy on July 15, 2025. It was released at a cost $29.99 to buy and $24.99 to rent.
The film is available on platforms like Apple TV+, Prime Video, and Fandango at Home. The 4K Blu-ray/DVD was released on August 12th.
Peacock Streaming Date
“How to Train Your Dragon” fans won’t have to wait long, as the live action film will come to Peacock next month. The film will be available on Peacock beginning October 10th!

A live action sequel is already in the works and is set to be released on June 11, 2027.
