Disney World Just Announced Two Unexpected Closures

Disney World just announced two closures that we weren’t expecting. Be sure to check these to see if your touring plans may be affected.

Disney attractions, resorts, and transportation receive refurbishments throughout the year. Typically, the Disney Parks schedule refurbishment work during somewhat slower crowd times. For example, we named January “Refurbishment Month” at Walt Disney World.

Typically, Disney tries to share closures and refurbishments to allow guests to adjust their travel plans. This summer, Walt Disney World will bring an extra dose of magic to all of the Theme Parks and even select resorts.

That is the good news; the bad news is that this will create a couple of closures to prepare for these new “Cool Kid Summer” experiences.

Hollywood Studios Closure

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, “Cool Kid Summer” will take over the Animation Courtyard space. Guests can enjoy fun performances from magicians, jump rope performers, and even surprise character appearances.

The “Disney Jr. Play and Dance!” show will close on May 25, 2025. Starting on May 27, 2025, a new “Get Animated” show will replace this show throughout the summer. The current calendar shows no showtimes for the “Disney Jr. Play and Dance!” show heading into July.

It seems safe to say that the “Disney Jr. Play and Dance!” show will not return until the end of “Cool Kid Summer” on September 2, 2025. Disney shares that “Get Animated” will allow guests to join Mickey Mouse and Disney Junior friends at a lively indoor DJ dance party.

Closure at EPCOT

Over at Epcot, Goofy will take over Communicore Hall to bring the ultimate game party and play space. The CommuniCore Hall will close starting May 12, 2025, for this magical transformation. CommuniCore Plaza and Mickey & Friends will remain open during this time.

“Disney Jr. Play and Dance!” show will close on May 25, 2025.

Although we are excited for these new experiences, this may be a bit sad for guests of small kids hoping to enjoy their favorite Disney Junior characters at the “Disney Jr. Play and Dance!” show this summer.
