Disney is already increasing the DVC offerings at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, and now it is increasing the inventory at another popular resort! What does this mean for members and for guests wishing to stay?

Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is a membership program that allows owners to purchase an annual allotment of Disney Vacation Club points. It is often likened to a timeshare (although DVC sales reps will typically disagree with that comparison). These points can be used to book Walt Disney World DVC resort rooms for dreamy Walt Disney World vacations with Deluxe accommodations.

If you want to read more about the ins and outs of DVC, head over HERE. Additionally, if you want to look into renting points for your next vacation, read this first.

More Inventory Comes to DVC

It is already relatively common knowledge that DVC is adding a new tower to Disney’s Polynesian Resort. However, building additional rooms is not the only way DVC increases its inventory.

Now, according to Cast Members we spoke with, DVC is increasing the inventory at Disney’s Riviera Resort as part of the resort’s December birthday celebration! There will be no expansion for this increase.

How can this be? All DVC resorts have some rooms that remain under the control of Disney Vacation Development. These rooms can be used for room tours to entice potential DVC Members. Also, regular hotel Guests can use cash bookings to secure one of these rooms.

However, from time to time, Disney declares some of this allotment for DVC Inventory. According to DVC reps, this is what is happening to increase the Riviera inventory. The resort opened with just 69 DVC Villas; however, that amount has increased multiple times over the four years Riviera has been in operation. Now the total amount of Villas allocated for DVC will increase to 256.

The new DVC inventory is located on the 4th floor. Offerings include a combination of tower studios, studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom villas. You can talk to a DVC rep about ownership!

It's about time DVC got some love! Too many cash vacationers are usurping DVC rooms! While you're at it, stop the ability for members to "rent" their DVC points! The higher occupancy thiscpractice engenders screws those of us who use our points for ourselves!
