It is hard to visit Walt Disney World without using Disney’s app. After all, it has everything you need in order to enjoy a magical vacation! From making dining reservations, ordering food, and Genie+, it has a little bit of everything.

Like all apps, it receives regular updates in order to improve the overall guest experience. Sometimes the updates are great and well received, while others either seem to not make much of a difference at all or leave some just plain frustrated.

Something New

Today, guests noticed a new pop-up when opening My Disney Experience. It reads as follows:

“This app contains in-app purchases for services like Disney PhotoPass downloads that cost real money.”

For the majority of guests, this probably is not any real new information! However, updates usually occur out of necessity, so maybe this was a need? Perhaps some guests were downloading their pictures not realizing those pictures actually cost real money!

Stuff happens. Life gets busy. Sometimes obvious things are just not quite as obvious! Just ask this family here who thought their gift cards would help them out on their trip!

What to Know

As a friendly reminder, if you use My Disney Experience, know that photo downloads, mobile food orders, select dining reservations, tickets and things like Disney Genie will cost you REAL MONEY.

Guests can store up to six credit cards to their Disney account. To make any changes to your account like adding or removing a payment method, just go to My Profile under My Account and select Payment Method.

If you do not want to risk any accidental purchases, the payment method can be removed. However, it is easier to have a payment method linked to your account while on vacation.

What do you think of the latest update for My Disney Experience? Do you feel that this was necessary? Have you ever purchased something accidentally on the app? Let us know in the comments below or share this post with a friend.
