As the battle continues over the federal and special district lawsuits, we are now finding out how exactly Florida Governor Ron DeSantis targeted Disney World.

Two Lawsuits

If you have been following along with the ongoing legal battle that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and Disney have been locked in as of late, then it needs little explanation. Disney, DeSantis, and the state of Florida are engaged in a federal lawsuit.

There is also a lawsuit in the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida and a countersuit with the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD). It all stems from Disney speaking out against the “Don’t Say Gay” bill back in early 2022. This led to the state of Florida retaliating and stripping away Disney’s special district.

Disney is suing the state of Florida on a federal level because they believe Florida is limiting its free speech.

Targeting Disney

Part of DeSantis’ strategy was to not only take over the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which he was successful in. It also included imposing even more regulations on Disney like state-controlled attraction and transportation inspections.

Currently, Disney and a handful of other theme parks are allowed to complete their own inspections and report any injuries to the state. Those other theme parks include Universal, SeaWorld, Legoland, and more. If the new law had passed, Disney would no longer be able to do its own inspections.

While these state-controlled inspections did not pass the State Legislature, a new report reveals it was DeSantis, not the state, that was responsible for the proposed legislation.

During various statements and press conferences, DeSantis made it sound like the idea was coming from the state of Florida. But that is not the case, according to this new report. You can read the report in its entirety HERE.

Just another hit piece by you on DeSantis..... you never tell the true facts.... always claiming that this all started because Disney "spoke" out against a "Don't Say Gay" bill, when there isn't even a bill by that name. You never mention that it was Disney, a Calif corporation, who started all this when they decided to go against the Florida parents & threatened to FUND & FIGHT a Parental Rights in Education bill that had absolutely no affect on them. I'm not even a DeSantis fan, but geeze, be factual in your articles!

Linda, punishing a company because they criticized legislation or said they’d work to fight it is against the 1st amendment. It’s an illegal violation of their free speech. You can’t support the constitution and support DeSantis’ actions.
