We love all things pirates, but we need to let you know about the big problem with this attraction.

Pirates of the Caribbean

We, of course, love everything about pirates and the Pirates of the Caribbean is one of our favorite attractions at the Magic Kingdom. Set sail on a swashbuckling voyage to a long-forgotten time and place when pirates and privateers ruled the seas.

Board a weathered barge for a treacherous voyage to the 17th century, when rowdy rogues and ruthless rapscallions ransacked Caribbean seaport towns. Sing along as pirates serenade you with their anthem, “Yo Ho, Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me).”

This attraction is a dark ride and is a “must-do” for many Disney guests, but lately, this attraction has experienced many problems.

Attraction Delays

Today, guests visiting the Magic Kingdom were a bit disappointed when Pirates of the Caribbean and Jungle Cruise did not open at the official park opening. Around 10:30 a.m., Jungle Cruise began welcoming guests, but unfortunately, Pirates of the Caribbean remained closed.

Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom are receiving a push notification notifying them of this closure. This alone is disappointing for guests, but it is even more troubling if you look at the past month.

Thrilldata shares the above graph that shows the attraction delays over the past 30 days. A delay is measured as “any time the attraction does not report wait time data for 10 minutes are more.”

Attraction delays can be caused by an attraction, breakdown, weather, and other miscellaneous factors as well. Over the past month, the attraction was closed for over 400 minutes on two separate dates.

Pirates of the Caribbean has not opened today and has shown many ride delays over the past 30 days.

What is also alarming is that for 8 other dates, the attraction was closed for 150 minutes or longer each day. After this breakdown, there are 8 additional dates where the attraction was closed for over 100 minutes.

Best “Pirate Tip”

This overall breakdown doesn’t look great for Pirates of the Caribbean. If this is an attraction that is on your “must-do” list, prioritize it early while it is still operational. If you purchase Genie+, you can still book a Lightning Lane for this attraction even if it is closed.

This will change to a “Multiple Experience” pass if the ride is not open during your Lightning Lane return time. You can then use this pass when the attraction does open, or use this on another attraction (select attractions are not available).

What do you think of these delays for Pirates of the Caribbean? Is this a “must-do” attraction for your family? How will this affect your plans for your next trip to the Magic Kingdom? Share your thoughts with us and share this news with your Disney pals.

This was closed while we were there this month as we had a LL booked but opened a few hours later. As I Have stated previously, rides seem to Be down more than they used to bed. Not sure if it is the fact that some of the rides are getting older or if Disney does not have the employees or maintenance people to care for the rides. Haven’t seen any evidence of things becoming unsafe but I will be out of there if I do. Mist injuries from from people doing something stupid and should be thrown out of the parks and be banned. Ex: jumping off rides, into fountains or disorderly conduct or intoxicated. PS. Forgot to mention there are also more parks, more rides and more tech sophisticated rides for them to deal with.
