New Character Coming
Disney’s Encanto has fans in love with the Madrigal family. We have seen Mirabel at Disneyland, Adventure Friends Cavalcade, and Epcot training. This past spring, Disney announced that this fall, Mirabel from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ hit film “Encanto” will greet guests in Fairytale Garden surrounded by whimsical décor inspired by La Familia Madrigal.
The space where Merida previously met guests is being redesigned for Mirabel. This means Merida left her home next to Cinderella Castle. Before this location was home to Merida, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider greeted guests at this location.
Progress
Although Disney has not announced an exact time frame for when Mirabel may greet guests, we now see progress. The Adena Corporation submitted permits for work to take place at the Fairtyale Gardens.
This permit cites “General Construction” without details listed. It is a pretty good assumption that this work will be to transform this space into The Casa Madrigal. This is exciting that work will soon begin to retheme this space. Last month, we shared more about this progress HERE.
New Location
Recently, Merida began meeting guests in her new location. While I’m (Susan) happy that she continues meeting guests, this spot seems like a downgrade from her wonderfully themed area at Fairytale Garden.
If you don’t look on Character Locator, you may miss her entirely! Now, you’ll find Merida in the Magic Kingdom gazebo behind Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. She even showed up earlier than Disney schedules showed her appearances. That meant there was NO LINE!
