Pandora is not doing so well today. More issues are plaguing the attractions in Animal Kingdom’s most popular spot.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to Dinoland, Asia, Africa, and Pandora. However, the most popular (and beautiful) land of them all is Pandora. Ride on the back of a banshee, meet a Pandora ranger, explore exotic foods, and witness the unique sounds of rhythms of the Swotu Waya. At night, be sure to take in the beautiful bioluminescent wildlife throughout the land.
Pandora is also home to two of Animal Kingdom’s attractions: Flight of Passage and Navi River Journey. Though the two rides are vastly different, they help bring the beautiful story of Avatar to life for Guests.
A Bad Day for Pandora
Earlier today we shared that Flight of Passage was operating at limited capacity. Cast Members announced that Avatar Flight of Passage was operating at reduced capacity today, January 21. As a result, Cast Members share that guests wait will be longer than expected.
It’s likely that some kind of technical or mechanical issue caused a theater(s) to temporarily close, but we cannot say that with 100% certainty. You can read more about that story HERE.
Now, another issue is affecting Navi River Journey. And unfortunately, we have seen this many times before.
Navi River Journey is a 10 minute boat ride through the bioluminescent rainforest in Pandora. Towards the end, the legendary Na’vi Shaman of Songs, who demonstrates her deep connection to the life force of Pandora, sends positive energy out into the forest through the power of her music.
She is absolutely stunning and one of the most realistic audio-animatronic figures Disney Imagineers have ever created. Her features and motions are so life-like, and the music she sings is simply beautiful.
Unfortunately, Shaman of Songs is currently in B mode. What is B mode? It means her animatronic is malfunctioning, and Disney has instead turned on a screen. This screen is essentially a video version of her singing the music. It can be quite disappointing for Guests wanting to see the real thing, but it’s better than having nothing.
How long until Shaman is back?
The good news is they usually get Shaman back up and running by the end of the day. They would have to temporarily pause the ride to fix her and get things back to normal. They may wait until the end of the day when there are no more Guests riding along the river.
Let us know if you are there today and if she is still in B mode!
