Toys for Tots

In November we shared that the Walt Disney Company would once again partner with Toys for Tots. We are all familiar with the Toys for Tots organization that was established in 1947.

Through this great organization, they have donated over 584 million toys in an effort to bring the joy of Christmas to less-fortunate children. You can even check out the celebrity/Disney fan that lended his voice to this year’s campaign HERE.

Did you know that when Toys for Tots was first founded in 1947, it looked quite different? They still had the same driving desire to provide Christmas toys to those in need, but this was not yet a worldwide campaign.

The organization originally shared toys in the greater Los Angeles, California area. In the beginning, they had not yet partnered with the U.S. Marine Corps. Within the first year, 5,000 new, unwrapped toys were donated.

1948 was a turning point for the Toys for Tots organization. That year, the U.S. Marine Corps officially adopted the program. The birth of this partnership allowed the scope of Toys for Tots to extend across the whole nation.

Also in 1948, Walt Disney became actively involved in supporting this charity. I can think of no better endorser than Walt Disney himself. Not only did the Walt Disney Company donate toys, but they also donated their talent. The iconic red train on the Toys for Tots logo was created by Walt Disney and his team of artists.

2020 Toys for Tots Drive

The Toys for Tots Toy Drive is still underway, but the Walt Disney Company has already donated thousands of toys across the country. Each Disney-owned ABC news station has had the joy in spreading a bit of Disney magic in a BIG way.

Just this past week, 1,000 toys were donated in Brooklyn, New York by the Walt Disney Company. Can you imagine the joys and smiles that these gifts will create? This is such a great charity and we are so happy that the Walt Disney Company has now made it easier than ever to donate.

Today, December 13th, is the last day to donate a toy. TODAY!!!!! This year the Walt Disney Company has made it even easier to give. You can purchase a toy at shopDisney.com/ToysForTots or any U.S. Disney store, World of Disney at Disney Springs, and the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort  World of Disney.

When these toys are purchased, Disney will donate an extra $1 to Toys for Tots. This provides toys for Toys For Tots, plus extra monetary donations. Slightly missed the deadline? There is still a great way to give and receive a little magic for yourself as well.
