2020 Wine and Dine Half Marathon Cancelled

With so many changes in response to the new health and safety measures in place at Walt Disney World, many Guests have wondered what will happen with runDisney races. With Wine & Dine half marathon weekend approaching, we now have some answers.

runDisney announced today that the Wine & Dine races, scheduled to take place November 5-8, 2020 have now been cancelled. runDisney is transitioning the races to be virtual instead.

If runners do not wish to participate in the races virtually, there is a refund option provided.

Here is the official statement from runDisney:

With circumstances surrounding COVID-19 continuing to change around the globe, we continue to make timely decisions about our operations after considering guidance from local and national health authorities. As we have shared before, we are basing our decisions on the safety and well-being of our Cast Members, athletes and our Guests, since there is nothing more important than that.

With that in mind, we are transitioning the 2020 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World Resort to a virtual race. Registered participants will receive an email beginning July 23 with instructions on how to make their registration selection before August 5, 2020. If a selection is not made, registered Guests automatically will be refunded.

  1. Oh boy…if they think I’m paying that much money for virtual races they are out of their mind. The part about the gift card is confusing. Do they mean they will gift card some amount back to me to account for a virtual race? I think that’s how I read it…but without knowing any amount that seems like a non starter. I think it’s right to cancel it but I’ll take the money back…thanks.

    • I agree, it is an excessive amount of money for a virtual race! The right thing to do would be to refund some of the race but offer a virtual race for a smaller fee to those who had signed up.
