Cast Members get Special Behind the Scenes Tour of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

For a stress-free Disney or Universal Studios vacation, let the FREE expert planners at Royal Carriage Vacations take care of every detail including dining reservations, applying discounts, and onboard cruise credit.

Recently the Chairman of Disney Parks, Bob Chapek, visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios to check on the progress of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway that is set to open in 2020.  While he was there, he invited a select group of Cast Members to join him for a brief hard hat tour.  How lucky those Cast Members must have felt!

The Cast Members were able to see the queue and entrance areas and found that most of the entrance area looked exactly as it did when it was the Great Move Ride (rest in peace).

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway with give guests the first opportunity to ride an attraction that is themed to Mickey Mouse.  It will offer a special new theme song and use technology that is said to create 3 Dimensional style graphics without the aid of special glasses!

The look of the attraction was inspired by the Disney Channel’s newer style “Mickey Mouse” cartoon shorts.  During the ride, a single guest per vehicles will have the opportunity to step right into the movie and join Goofy’s train for one wacky ride!

I would be super excited about this, but the newer animation (as seen in the newer style Mickey shorts) grates on my nerves. With just a few strokes of their pencils, they’ve ruined Mickey and his gang for me. Their look resembles maniacal teenagers. The characters don’t seem genuine. Just my opinion.

Most of the entrance area looked the exact same as it used to. I read that as they basically haven’t done anything yet to justify the three years in making. ‍♀️ I understand they moved most of their workers to Galaxy’s Edge at the time, but geez...this is taking For. Ev. Er.

From what I was told, the delay is the same as the one for Rise of the Resistance. They have to get the new projection tech to work correctly and consistently. Most of the ride is completed.

Thanks for the cool update! I had almost forgotten about this with all the Stars Wars mania. Is there estimated opening date that I missed? (Other than just 2020)
