I thought might be helpful to track the schedule information for the upcoming Rock Your Disney Side 24 Magic Kingdom day.  The event will begin at 6:00am on Friday, May 23rd and the park will remain open until 6:00am on Friday, May 24th.  The theme for the event is Heroes vs Villains, but we don’t know yet how that will play out.  In the previous two iterations the event provided a special dance party in the hub and special character meet and greets after midnight, including Mickey and Minnie in their pajamas.  There is no special ticket required, just a regular park ticket.  Cast Members are blocked from using their gate privileges for the event but can use comp tickets.

Guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character, whether hero or villain, but don’t wear a mask that obstructs your vision.  I again remind you it will be really HOT and possibly could rain, so dress in something light and bring a poncho.

Costume guidelines provided by Disney:

  • Costumes should be child-friendly and adhere to any guidelines determined by Disney.
  • Costumes should not be obstructive, offensive or violent; drag on the ground; contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest; contain any weapons or objects which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
  •  Masks may be worn, but they must not obstruct vision, and eyes must be visible at all times.
  • Guests who dress like Disney characters may not pose for pictures or sign autographs.
  • Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused admission.

Based on the previous two 24 hour experiences, I would foresee light crowds early in the event and massive crowds in the evening for the fireworks and parade.  It usually begins to clear out around 2:00am when the rides go through brief or early shut downs for routine maintenance that must be performed daily.

Here’s the entertainment schedule that was provided to me.  I will update this information as it’s sent along.  I haven’t received any information on any special character meet and greets or event specific activities yet.  I’ll update the post when I do.

  2. I just read on the Disboards about people camping out at the entrance to Disneyland and wondering if people do this at the Magic Kingdom as well?? We definitely WON’T be doing that, but just curious if you know if it happens or not!

  3. We are really wanting to be there for the welcome show–how soon should we arrive? We are staying at Pop, and resort buses don’t start running u ntil 5:15. I could drive, but ferries/monorail from the TTC don’t start running until 5:15, so is there any benefit there? Really want to be there for opening! Thanks in advance.

      • I have the exact same question about taking the bus from Pop in the morning vs. driving. You’re saying it’s better to take the bus? What time should we get in line for the bus? Don’t want to miss the special opening show!!

      • It will end up about the same if you are at the Pop bus stop by 5:00. You may arrive a little BEFORE the other guests because they have to park the car, walk to TTC and take the monorail or boat across.

  4. I asked this before but what time would you anticipate characters like Merida or jasmine appearing? The usual 930 or earlier?

  5. They just announced that Anna and Elsa will be meeting all night, and I was able to receive a 6:30 FP+, so book if it’s still available!!!!

  6. Kenny, I need your advice please. My daughter loves collecting character pics and autographs. She’s in school and is too young to stay out all night so I told her I’d go character hunting for her on the 23rd. I’m coming from Tampa. I can get to rope drop but I’ll have to get up very early to do so, and while I’m pretty sure I could make it through the night I’m concerned about fatigue on the drive home. So bearing in mind my mission is almost exclusively character-driven, what’s your advice–(1) be there for the opening so as to not miss any (very) early characters or (2) get there a little later (7:45-8:00 or so) and get a little extra sleep. I appreciate your website very much. It’s the only source I trust!

  7. Kenny, I live in Tampa. I’m definitely going, but the only question is the timing. I can certainly make it for rope drop, and I’m confident I can go the full 24 hours, but the drive home might be a little dicey. Bearing in mind that my overwhelming interest is the characters (my daughter loves them–I did a runDisney Goofy challenge just to get rare characters), am I better off being there for the opening and taking my chances on endurance, or going at a slightly more reasonable time (say, arrival at TTC at 7:45 or so)? For what it’s worth, you’re the only one I’m asking because you’re the only one I trust to give me the solid info. BTW, assume I’ve already got all the common characters please.

  8. Hi Kenny,
Do you mind if I list the time schedule on our website for our UK visitors. I will of course include a link to yourself.

    • A few started early and some came out after midnight. Mickey and Minnie and Chip n Dale in pjs and Captain Jack were out late and they had the Monsters Inc characters out late because the movie was new.

  9. No problem. Sorry it took so long. Thanks again for posting this info!! I have a new WDW website to check for news in my rotation :)

  10. Where did you find that there will be a second MSEP at 1am? Only reason I ask is that I have a dining reservation near 11 and if that’s the only MSEP then I’ll cancel the dining. Thanks for the info!!

  11. Any idea if they will offer FP+ all night long? Especially now that you can get extra FP+ at the kiosks once you’ve used your original three?

  12. You mentioned special character meet and greets after midnight. Even though you don’t know the details yet, would you expect for there to also be meet and greets with rare characters throughout the day as well?

What do you think?
