Updated 5/22/2014
I thought might be helpful to track the schedule information for the upcoming Rock Your Disney Side 24 Magic Kingdom day. The event will begin at 6:00am on Friday, May 23rd and the park will remain open until 6:00am on Friday, May 24th. The theme for the event is Heroes vs Villains, but we don’t know yet how that will play out. In the previous two iterations the event provided a special dance party in the hub and special character meet and greets after midnight, including Mickey and Minnie in their pajamas. There is no special ticket required, just a regular park ticket. Cast Members are blocked from using their gate privileges for the event but can use comp tickets.
Guests are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character, whether hero or villain, but don’t wear a mask that obstructs your vision. I again remind you it will be really HOT and possibly could rain, so dress in something light and bring a poncho.
Costume guidelines provided by Disney:
- Costumes should be child-friendly and adhere to any guidelines determined by Disney.
- Costumes should not be obstructive, offensive or violent; drag on the ground; contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest; contain any weapons or objects which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
- Masks may be worn, but they must not obstruct vision, and eyes must be visible at all times.
- Guests who dress like Disney characters may not pose for pictures or sign autographs.
- Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused admission.
Based on the previous two 24 hour experiences, I would foresee light crowds early in the event and massive crowds in the evening for the fireworks and parade. It usually begins to clear out around 2:00am when the rides go through brief or early shut downs for routine maintenance that must be performed daily.
Here’s the entertainment schedule that was provided to me. I will update this information as it’s sent along. I haven’t received any information on any special character meet and greets or event specific activities yet. I’ll update the post when I do.
Stitchkingdom posted this information on characters yesterday on Twitter

Will Disney be doing the ROCK YOUR DISNEYSIDE 24 HOUR DAY this year 2015? And if yes, what month and day will it be?
They haven’t announced one yet

Thx I tweeted and fb that earlier, but didn’t post here
I just read on the Disboards about people camping out at the entrance to Disneyland and wondering if people do this at the Magic Kingdom as well?? We definitely WON’T be doing that, but just curious if you know if it happens or not!
No because they can’t reach the entrance until 5:15am
We are really wanting to be there for the welcome show–how soon should we arrive? We are staying at Pop, and resort buses don’t start running u ntil 5:15. I could drive, but ferries/monorail from the TTC don’t start running until 5:15, so is there any benefit there? Really want to be there for opening! Thanks in advance.
Not really any benefit if you’re staying on site. Everyone will gather in front of the Mickey Floral anyway.
I have the exact same question about taking the bus from Pop in the morning vs. driving. You’re saying it’s better to take the bus? What time should we get in line for the bus? Don’t want to miss the special opening show!!
It will end up about the same if you are at the Pop bus stop by 5:00. You may arrive a little BEFORE the other guests because they have to park the car, walk to TTC and take the monorail or boat across.
I asked this before but what time would you anticipate characters like Merida or jasmine appearing? The usual 930 or earlier?
Regular times for those two. All character times that I know of are in the app
How bad do you think Merida will be? Is it worth it to try to get in line about 9 or 8:50 for her?
They just announced that Anna and Elsa will be meeting all night, and I was able to receive a 6:30 FP+, so book if it’s still available!!!!
Already have them :)
Kenny, I need your advice please. My daughter loves collecting character pics and autographs. She’s in school and is too young to stay out all night so I told her I’d go character hunting for her on the 23rd. I’m coming from Tampa. I can get to rope drop but I’ll have to get up very early to do so, and while I’m pretty sure I could make it through the night I’m concerned about fatigue on the drive home. So bearing in mind my mission is almost exclusively character-driven, what’s your advice–(1) be there for the opening so as to not miss any (very) early characters or (2) get there a little later (7:45-8:00 or so) and get a little extra sleep. I appreciate your website very much. It’s the only source I trust!
Would Hercules and Flynn and the like count as one of those characters that would come out after the 1 am parade?
From what I’ve heard Hercules isn’t supposed to offer meet and greets.
Maleficent and the Queen don’t come out until 11pm, and others come out even later in the evening, so if she is interested in meeting villains I could come a little later.
Kenny, I live in Tampa. I’m definitely going, but the only question is the timing. I can certainly make it for rope drop, and I’m confident I can go the full 24 hours, but the drive home might be a little dicey. Bearing in mind that my overwhelming interest is the characters (my daughter loves them–I did a runDisney Goofy challenge just to get rare characters), am I better off being there for the opening and taking my chances on endurance, or going at a slightly more reasonable time (say, arrival at TTC at 7:45 or so)? For what it’s worth, you’re the only one I’m asking because you’re the only one I trust to give me the solid info. BTW, assume I’ve already got all the common characters please.
No rare characters will make appearances until the 1am parade is completed.
Thanks Kenny! I really appreciate the help. Sorry about the multiple posts. I thought my crummy connection ate the first one.
Nob problem. It is set for me to approve your first post to reduce spam on the site and I sleep days
Are those the only rare characters to be expected? Or can we expect Hercules or Flynn Rider?
Leslie, I’d expect some other great characters too ;)
Will there be a list of characters who will be at the event released in advanced?
Didn’t you see Stitch Kingdom’s tweet I inserted?
I did. But will there be a schedule or are they just going to be walking around? And is there a possibility of other rare characters?
Michael, specific locations after the second parade. Likely to see other characters, rarity may be questionable for meets
Hi Kenny,
Do you mind if I list the time schedule on our website for our UK visitors. I will of course include a link to yourself.
Just link to this please, it may change and I’d prefer the actual info not be copied/pasted. This is based on the person’s desire that shared the info with me.
Ok. Out of curiosity what did they do last year?
A few started early and some came out after midnight. Mickey and Minnie and Chip n Dale in pjs and Captain Jack were out late and they had the Monsters Inc characters out late because the movie was new.
No problem. Sorry it took so long. Thanks again for posting this info!! I have a new WDW website to check for news in my rotation :)
Thanks Jason. I post anything that has a schedule plus a lot more
Dude. Sorry. Just saw your reply. I deleted it. Sorry about that. Didn’t know you’d mind.
Thank you. I don’t have a working relationship with that website
Park opens 6 am.. What time can you likely meet characters like Merida and Tiana on An early open day like this?
Mike,
Not sure yet. I could provide last year’s info, but it may not be correct.
Haha. Fair enough!! Thanks again for info!! I’ve been looking all over for this exact thing :)
Found it :) I’ll update it as more details are provided to me.
Please remove the information that I took the time to prepare from that web forum. I do not wish to have this information copied and pasted into that forum. Thank you.
Where did you find that there will be a second MSEP at 1am? Only reason I ask is that I have a dining reservation near 11 and if that’s the only MSEP then I’ll cancel the dining. Thanks for the info!!
Jason, I don’t provide my sources, but it’s accurate.
Any idea if they will offer FP+ all night long? Especially now that you can get extra FP+ at the kiosks once you’ve used your original three?
Rides are offering from 6am to midnight.
What time would you reccommend arriving? When it opens and just touching through the day?
Best time to do rides is early in the morning or after 2am, best time to do any extra event type stuff that may arise would be 11pm onward.
You mentioned special character meet and greets after midnight. Even though you don’t know the details yet, would you expect for there to also be meet and greets with rare characters throughout the day as well?
Don’t know about the rarity, but I would expect some character meets. We’ll have to wait and see who
