Running marathons to meet characters

In recent years Disney has really stepped up its game when it comes to entertaining runners while they are participating in various Run Disney events.  One of the more special parts of running a Disney Marathon, Half Marathon or 5K event is the opportunity to meet rare and very rare characters along the path.  Along with the typical Fab 4, one might run by some special Disney celebs.  During the last twelve months Run Disney has hosted events including the Tangled Royal 5K, the Princess Half Marathon and the Disney Marathon Weekend.  Here’s a few of the special Disney characters that have appeared during some of those events:

My daughter and I are going to make our first ever 5K attempt with the Happy Haunted 5K “Fun Run.”  We’ll see if it’s actually fun or not :)  While I’m an extremely competitive person (Ultimate touring for example), I have no intention of doing this for competition, but for fun, to share some memories with my daughter and to hopefully meet a few characters.  We’ll each be running in costume too.  It will also be my first time in the ESPN complex at Walt Disney World.  What about you?  Would you do a Run Disney event just to meet a few rare characters?
