A virtual queue is a lottery-type system that gives you a boarding group. Once you enter the queue and successfully obtain your boarding group, you go about your day as normal until your boarding group is called.

This can be done through the Disney World and Disneyland apps for any rides, special experiences, or merchandise events that require it.

A virtual queue was first introduced with Rise of the Resistance and was later used for the opening of Remy's Ratatouille Adventure, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, TRON Lightcycle/Run, and Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

Over the years, Disney has made several adjustments to the Virtual Queue system. Although no attractions currently offer a Virtual Queue, the Virtual Queue remains on the My Disney Experience app.

Today, the Virtual Queue is activated once again for the runDisney Marathon Weekend. Currently, the Virtual Queue will only be used for the first day of the runDisney Expo.

For those participating in this event, this will be a BIG day to secure your Virtual Queue. runDisney made a change for those completing the Dopey Challenge and this will also be the first day for the brand-new runDisney Brooks shoe line.

Guests can join the Virtual Queue for the runDisney Expo on the My Disney Experience app at 8:30 am and 1:30 pm. It is important to note that you must be up to 45 miles away from Walt Disney World Resort to join this Virtual Queue.

Guests must join a Virtual Queue for the runDisney Expo merchandise event today.

After clicking "Join Virtual Queue", you can select your shopping party (up to 6 Guests). Once your Virtual Queue is confirmed, you will receive a push notification to let you know when your Boarding Group is called.

When you arrive at the Expo, you can check in using your MagicBand+, Disney MagicMobile pass, or by showing your digital code from your Virtual Queue.
