Haunted Mansion to Receive New Sets Soon

The 999 Haunts of the Haunted Mansion at the Magic Kingdom will receive a refurbishment very soon. See what aspects of this attraction will undergo work and what this may mean for many guests' favorite attraction.

Haunted Mansion Changes

Haunted Mansion was an opening day attraction at Magic Kingdom's Liberty Square and has received a few fun changes over the years. One of the most recent and notable changes brought the return of the Hatbox Ghost. This clever illusion is truly spell-binding.

The Hatbox Ghost appears to guests as they pass the Endless Hallway, welcoming himself inside from the swinging wake in the cemetery and grinning at the Doom Buggies as they set off deeper into the mansion.

Now it appears that new set elements are coming to the Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom.

Haunted Mansion Permit

A new permit was just filed by Disney Imagineering to "install set elements." This does not sound like a refurbishment, but rather an addition.

As work speeds up at Piston Peak, which is replacing Tom Sawyer Island, even more construction walls are added at the Haunted Mansion.

This has affected the outdoor queue for the Haunted Mansion quite a bit. We are happy to see a new permit that will add a bit of extra magic rather than more construction walls.

Over at Disneyland, they received two new scenes from a recent refurbishment. The biggest update is with the attic scene; a new bride has arrived!

The imagery at the end of the ride has also been updated; this is the part when "a ghost will follow you home." You can see full details on these new scenes HERE. With news of a permit filing, we hope these new scenes may come to Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion.
