Disney Cast Members Improve Guardians Ride Experience

Do you love Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, but wish you did not have to make it through the mad dash that is the preshow to experience the ride? We may have some good news for you!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is one of Walt Disney World's most popular attractions. Lightning Lane Single Pass for the attraction sells out regularly, and the queue is consistently lengthy.

The ride itself is delightful. And the preshows themselves are a good introduction to the ride's story.

However, the preshows involve moving from lines to a cluster, and the cluster moves through 3 different spaces, reshuffling and turning back into a line. Some guests get a bit overzealous and rush, and perhaps even run and push to get from place to place. It can make for a bit of an unpleasant experience.

However, recently, one of the doors from the second preshow to the ride area has been labeled as closed, and the area has been set up to funnel guests more carefully from each side. And, during my (Kate's) past few visits, the Cast Members at the attraction have started running things a little differently! It makes for a safer and more organized experience.

First off, in the first preshow, after the characters finish their lines, a Cast Member has been stepping in front of the crowd and instructing them to stay still until the doors fully open. The same Cast Member makes sure everyone stays in the lighted ring so the preshow can actually finish.

When the doors to the ride's loading zone open, the crowd has been finding additional Cast Members waiting to intercept them and slow them down. Twice, when my travel party enjoyed the ride this week, Cast Members stopped the crowd at both doors and let them enter through one door at a time. Another time, CMs stood at both doors with light sticks, directing Guests to walk carefully.

There is no official word on whether this is a permanent procedural change or if it is only to support holiday crowds. However, my party appreciated the organization! The Cast Members did a great job with holiday crowd control each time we experienced the attraction.

I would love to see this type of procedure stick around. It certainly feels much safer and easier.
