Warning: Disney World Monorail Changes Route
Attention Disney park goers. One of the Disney World Monorails has adjusted its route. Find out what you need to know.
Disney's Monorail System
Disney World's monorail system opened on October 1, 1971, with the rest of Walt Disney World and quickly became a favorite of many! The monorail cruises above the Seven Seas Lagoon, offering Guests a spectacular view from this "Highway in the Sky."
The monorail system covers a vast 14 miles and can travel up to 40 miles per hour!
Offering access to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, the Ticket and Transportation Center, and several resorts, the monorail is a quick and efficient way to get around Walt Disney World. Monorail Route Change
It has been reported, that Disney's Express Monorail has adjusted its route. This new route began today, and is believed to be in a testing phase.
The Express Monorail route is now traveling in a clockwise direction versus the previous counterclockwise direction. Now, the Resort Monorail and the Express Monorail travel in the same direction.
Why the change? What Does This Mean For You?
At this time, it is unknown why Disney changed the direction of the Express Monorail. It is thought that this change could make things easier in the case of monorail train breakdowns, however this has not been confirmed.
It is reported that the Express Monorail is now running in a clockwise direction.
This new route testing should not impact Guests as the Express Monorail only makes stops at the Transportation and Ticket Center and the Magic Kingdom. Your travel time should remain the same. Time will tell if Disney finds this new route change helpful.
