The Walt Disney World monorails are getting an upgrade. Find out what the upgrade is and when you will see it!
Disney World Monorail

Disney World’s monorail system opened on October 1, 1971, with the rest of Walt Disney World and quickly became a favorite of many! The monorail cruises above the Seven Seas Lagoon, offering Guests a spectacular view from this “Highway in the Sky.”
The monorail system covers a vast 14 miles and can travel up to 40 miles per hour!
Offering access to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, the Ticket and Transportation Center, and several resorts, the monorail is a quick and efficient way to get around Walt Disney World. Many argue that the monorail is the best transportation at Disney World.
50th Anniversary Enhancement

The Disney World monorail received a glow-up for the 50th celebration. Each monorail train received glowing lights that matched each train’s color.
Disney added lights to each monotrail train matching each train’s specific color for the Walt Disney World 50th Celebration.
This was a fun detail that helped spread magic for the 50th celebration. You can read more about this glow-up HERE.
