Your upcoming trip to the Disney Parks may look a bit more green. This seems like a long time coming, but Disney finally makes plans to make a positive change for this driving attraction. What do you think of this change?

There is no greater thrill for younger guests than to step behind the wheel and drive around Tomorrowland. Both Walt Disney World and Disneyland offer two driving experiences.

Walt Disney World offers the Tomorrowland Speedway. While Disneyland offers the Autopia attraction. Both attractions are very similar, but the Autopia attraction seems to offer a more updated course and vehicles.

These attractions were designed with younger guests in mind, but all guests can enjoy this attraction. Guests 54″ or taller can drive solo, and guests 32″ or taller can drive if accompanied by someone 54″ or taller.

We finally have good news regarding the gasoline odor of Tomorrowland. In an interview with the LA Times, Disney Spokesperson, Jessica Good, announces a change.

Good shares, “Since opening with Disneyland park in 1955, Autopia has remained a guest-favorite most popular with young kids experiencing driving for the first time,”

“As the industry moves toward alternative fuel sources, we have developed a roadmap to electrify this attraction and are evaluating technology that will enable us to convert from gas engines in the next few years.”

What does this mean?

At this time, Disney has not announced when this change may happen or even what these new vehicles may look like. It is unknown if these new vehicles may be electric or a hybrid.

Many Disney guests agree that this will be a positive change and that we can all “breathe a little easier” in Tomorrowland. Disney has not announced if this change may also extend to the Tomorrowland Speedway at Walt Disney World.

I am not one that would buy or endorsed the new laws that we must replace gasoline cars with electric. But, this would be welcomed at DW as it smells so bad over by the cars and hard to breathe. I avoid it when walking around Tomorrow Land.
